What made you come up with making this innovative running shoes?
Angus Wardlaw: We started with sports science. Before we looked at the shoe, we looked at the human body, so we had the runners and drew dots on their bare feet and looked at it using the ARAMIS system. We really wanted to understand how the fit moves and how it changes as they run, and that was the real start.
What are the concepts for Ultra Boost X?
Moritz Hollmuller: Creating the greatest running experience for the female runner.

That’s a wonderful concept. What are some of the key points and characteristics of this shoes?
Angus: It is pretty much everywhere, because there is so much things we get out of the ARAMIS studies. Our innovations can retailor every millimeters of the shoe, so we can pretty much translate the data and start designing. The data allows us to design where to add what, and really helps us to have complexity of data information. Also we would take them as simple as possible, and we’ll translate them in a very simple way. The most unique part would be this separated design. No shoe had ever done this, and as a fact, it’s a patented innovation.
So what made you think that you wanted to make a premium running shoes dedicated to women only?
Because it was time. We needed to, All around the world, there’s a huge growth in running. And the growth is driven by women. They bring something totally new to the world of runner.
Will you tell us about the difference between PureBOOST X and Ultra Boost X?
The key difference is that for Ultra Boost X, we wanted to make a shoe that can run any distance from 1k to 42k. The Pure Boost X is a natural running shoe. We created it for people that wants to run 5 to 10k. Plus, we focused more on comfortableness, more boost, and used Prime knit for Ultra Boost X.
Do you have any story in behind the creation of this shoe?
Making up the very first idea for Ultra Boost X was the hardest part because we’ve never made a shoe with the upper part and the sole completely ‘separated’. No one has ever made a shoe like this. Also, at that time we were at the factory, and then there was a typhoon, so we were stuck in the hotel for one week.
Wow. A week is quite long. So you must have had a hard time. But I experienced running with it, and it was great! I love the design too. Do you have any recommendation for a fashion style with Ultra Boost X?
It works well with all kinds of color, especially with black, blue, and maybe colors like beige. I think the length is perfect too, how it flatters into the ankle and blends with your body silhouette. I think it can be worn with anything!
